The Bird and the Caterpillar

Nick told me a story, it's kinda lame, but kinda not.

So there was this caterpillar and he was worming around, "worm, worm, worm" and then this bird that was hungry and flying around, "fly, fly, fly" and then the bird bit the caterpillar's foot (OH NOES!) and then the caterpillar was all like "I WON'T MAKE YOU FULL DON'T EAT ME!" and the bird, being stupid was like "OKAY" and then the caterpillar and the bird were friends. One day the caterpillar went into his cocoon without telling the bird. The bird didn't know what to do, so he waited for his friend. Until one day, the caterpillar came out of his cocoon a changed man. He was a butterfly! The bird was like "Who are you? Where's my friend? Forget this!" and then he ate the butterfly...then he realized he had missed the butterfly and the fly was like "WAIT! LOOK!" and showed the bird the scar on his foot. And the world was happy again. so the moral of this story is that friendship made the bird more full than the caterpillar did.

Song

For yet another project, this time on environment, we get an issue from the teacher and then have to create a song about it to a tune of our choice. My issue was sustainability of water and what we in Canada can do to conserve water. My group decided to do it to the tune of 'Bad Romance' by Lady Gaga, don't ask me how THAT happened. I HATE singing, can't sing, don't enjoy it, don't like it. Don't even do it in private. And now she wants me to sing IN FRONT OF THE CLASS. Lame.
So here's our song:
O--------------
Drinkin' some bad water
O--------------
Drinkin' some bad water

Re-re-resevoirs
Cana-Canada
Get-get-get some now
World wants its water (Chorus X2)

They want your water, don't want no disease
They want your water, and they want it for free
They need your help, help, help, help
They need your help.

The population is getting too high
We're wasting water while they all go and cry
They need your help, help, help, help
They need your help

You know that you need it
So why do you waste it
Conserve it now, oh yes, right now

Ice caps melting and rivers to mud
Next to happen is our Prairies to flood
Aquifers are our greatest resource
Drain them all and we'll be full of remorse

O--------------
Drinkin' some bad water
O--------------
Drinkin' some bad water

Re-re-resevoirs
Cana-Canada
Get-Get-Get some now
World wants its water.

Turn off the tap while you're brushing your teeth
The water draining is the stuff that they need
They need your help, help, help, help
They need your help

Oil Spills and chemical leaks
What the lakes get is not what they need
They need your help, help, help, help
They need your help

You know that you need it
So why do you waste it
Conserve it now, oh yes, right now

Ice caps melting and rivers to mud
Next to happen is our Prairies to flood
Aquifers are our greatest resource
Drain them all and we'll be full of remourse

O-------
Drinkin' some bad water
O-------
Drinkin' some bad water

Re-re-resevoirs
Cana-canada
Get-get-get some now
World wants its water

Rain, rain collect it baby
With it irrigate like crazy
Rain, rain collect it baby
With it irrigate like crazy
Rain, rain collect it baby
With it irrigate like crazy
Rain, rain collect it baby
Check it, I sustain it baby

World wants its water, from it don't take
World wants its water, don't make it wait
Le monde veut son eau
N'en prend pas, le monde veut son eau
Don't make it wait.

Worry Wart.

Do you ever have that foreboding feeling? Like you're worried about something but can't remember what it is you're worried about? That's how I feel today, it's like a have a huge project that I have to present, all the butterflies and everything. I don't like it, I wish I knew what the feeling was about. As if I'm not stressed out enough, now I can't even remember WHY I'm stressed out! Hopefully, I either remember why I'm worried, or find out I was worrying about nothing. I need a remembrall from Harry Potter - I sympathize with Neville...

Burn Out...

The end of year, everyone is excited? No. See, what really happens at the end of year is this:

1. Teachers freak out because they don't have enough time to fit all our learning - they start cramming.
2. Students get extra work so they can be able to learn everything teachers need to teach.
3. Teachers don't have anymore time, and forget to mark things.
4. Students ask about marks (I could happily wait a year for my marks.)
5. Teachers give MORE work, hoping the students will be too busy to ask about marks.
6. Students have excessive amount of work.
7. Teachers all give tests the same weeks.
8. Students have a lot of tests to do.
9. Final Exams - cramming!
10. Provincials - cramming!
11. NOW IT'S THE END OF THE YEAR.
12. Students need the two months of summer just to recuperate from end of year.

Mudhut Music

Casey's not here today, she's probably sick, last time I saw her, she was feeling pretty bad. But anyways, I'm sitting next to Nick, and wondering, "Nick! What do I blog about?!" and he's like "BLOG ABOUT THE MUSIC! YOU KNOW, WHERE YOU PLAY THE DRUMS AND DANCE AROUND THE FIRE?" so, that's what I'm going to blog about. As per Nick's instructions, when I go live in Australia we'll have a fire pit. And drums. And we'll dance around the fire happily. It'll be like in Pocahontas! And the kangaroos will dance with us. We'll dance to the Circle of Life from the Lion King. Awimbawet Awimbawet...In the jungle the mighty jungle the lion...oh that's not Circle of Life, that's The Lion Sleeps Tonight....Maaaaatoomeyahh matoowimeyyaya It's the Ciiiiircle of Liiiiiiife (That's the right song!) And we'll dance around and be merry.

English Project

Usually when I get projects that I can do on my own that don't involve presentations I'm all for it. But this Macbeth project is sooo creepy. First of all, it's a project on this huge piece of paper which, Jen has simplified for me - four pieces of computer paper kind of huge - and I have to (on one side) to a Character Concepts Chart. Meaning every character in Macbeth (I HATE Macbeth.) including the mini-mini ones like the messenger that tells Lady Macbeth that Macbeth is coming. So each major character gets 4-5 points, 4-5 quotes to support the points, arrows saying who is related to who and who did what to who, AND a drawing of what they look like. All the mini-but-not-so-mini characters get 3-4 points, 3-4 quotes, arrows, and a drawing. And each mini character gets 1-2 points, 1-2 quotes, and a drawing. Also on that side we need symbols, 2-3 points, 2-3 quotes, and a drawing. Motifs, 2-3 points, 2-3 quotes and a drawing. And the last thing for that side is 3-4 points, 3-4 quotes and a drawing for each theme in that play. (This is only on ONE side!) Now we come to the other side, which is in the form of Freytag's Pyramid. For each section (Inciting Moment, Exposition, etc.) We need what we think a part of the play fits that description (e.g. I think the climax is Banquo's death) 5-6 points, 5-6 quotes, and a drawing. So what that would look like is it would say:

Climax - Banquo's Death (Drawing of Banquo dying.)
-Something about Macbeth being jealous.
-Something about Banquo being cooler than Macbeth
-Something Old
-Something New
-Something Borrowed
-Something Blue
-Quote
-Quote
-Quote
-Quote
-Quote
-Quote

Really?

Now - creepy part. My dad has done Macbeth and he was trying to help out, and was like "didn't Macbeth say something about Duncan being a good king?"
and I was like "Yeah, he says 'Duncan has borne his faculties so meek' and it's on page 24 line 17'" Creepy enough? It really WAS on page 24 line 17! And I quoted that exactly! I think I should get full marks on my project - just for that!

When something happens...everything happens

Ok, so usually I'm fairly busy, not busy busy, but I can find something to do. But when i make plans to do something, everything just decides to be on that day. So my friend Erin's mom has this family plan thing at a gym, and I can join on it and it only costs me two bucks a month. So I go to the gym whenever she can drive. So I made plans to go out with them Friday at quarter to eight. Of course - totally thinking my friend's birthday celebration would be on the weekend. It's not. So after school I have to do recycling with my friends (where we recycle all the paper - and drinking containers in the school) and then something is going to happen, and then we're all going to take a bus down to a restaurant to eat. There we will give her the present that everyone chipped in for. But the problem is, I don't have a ride back - as I am stupid and have no idea how the bus system works. My dad is going out so he can't drive me home and I don't want to ask my friend's mom to pick me up. So luckily Casey was there to help me out and give me this number to text to figure out when the buses will arrive. Hopefully I don't screw it up. Tomorrow, Erin and I have a finance "seminar" tomorrow - which is good for the career area I would like to go into - Accounting. And after that when my dad picks us up at 5:30, we bring Erin home and my dad has to rush me to the theater to be at my friend's birthday movie which the friends who couldn't come (or weren't invited) to the Friday party are going. And then, hopefully we intend to get into Letters to Juliet. And then on Sunday I work for six hours. I wish that I could just go back in time and say I couldn't do any of it! But of course I can't and therefore need to just suck it up and do it.

Boyfriend?

So Casey was talking about her boyfriend and I totally interrupted her and laid down some rules. "He can NOT come live with us in our mudhut." She looked kind of shocked but then after some thinking said, "fine." So I thought about it and thought about it and I have come to the conclusion that if he REALLY had to come, say we needed someone to cook because I can't, he'd come. Also, if something needed to be fixed. He would live in the bathroom. But he isn't allowed to leave by the front hole, we would make a hole for him to leave through the bathroom. You have a cat-flap, a dog-flap, now I bring you the...Boyfriend-Flap! He can decorate it too! He'll have so much fun.
PS: If Casey's boyfriend reads this - we're best friends, kay?
PPS: If Casey's boyfriend ever becomes a rockstar, he can upgrade from the bathroom, but only if he builds me a bookshelf.

60L Backpack

So today Casey brought in her 60L backpack, and as we got to talking, she decided she was going to get me one so that when we move to go live in our mudhut, we would have our backpacks only. Like snails we would carry all our belongings on our backs. So, she told me I had to decide what I was going to bring with me in my backpack. I've decided that of course I'm bringing all my books, and I'm sure I could fit my guinea pigs in there and maybe...kleenex! It's awful when you're walking and your nose starts running and you're like "MAN I WISH I HAD A KLEENEX." My clothes and stuff like that will fit in there, and my mismatched socks. They always get to my drawer in perfect matching pairs, but I think at night they go have sock parties and then forget who their partner was and get back in my drawer with the wrong sock. So they're going in there. My Dino teddy bear HAS to come, he looks like Barney...but he's not, he's Dino from the Flinstones. And toilet paper, definitely need some of that, you never know if the leaf is actually poison ivy or not, so yeah. And who could forget? My handy-dandy wallet, with nothing in it. If I get attacked by random desert people, I can bargain for my life with that wallet! Now you'll be wondering how I'm going to fit all that stuff in there? Is it a Mary Poppins carpet bag? No! I know the secret of how they put the caramel in the caramilk bar! And therefore know the secret of how to fit all that stuff in there with plenty of room to spare! And no, I won't tell you.

This video is really cool and shows the things modern technology can do. Also, some people say that technology can take away the creativeness of people, but I think this video shows that it really just helps people add a new type of creativeness, a creativeness to take a picture, a flower for example, and make it look like a rooster, technology just helps that happen, for artists who can't draw, they can take pictures and alter it like this. It's just amazing!

This is a video of "Where's My Angel?" by Metro Station, I think it's a really cool song, but also, it's from the Alice soundtrack, that movie was a really good movie and really cool in 3D. I would definately recommend this movie to my friends, if you get a chance to see it, go! Also the song itself is a creepy sort of Alice-like song, which is something you don't hear everyday, overall a great song.

Dumb Ideas

So, one day in class, once again. Casey and I were doing an assignment, I can't remember what assignment it was. But I randomly noticed that on the outside bars of the document it said 86% so I asked Casey what it meant. We thought...and thought...and being completely computer illiterate, decided it was the mark we were getting, there had to be some program that marked our work as we did it, the teacher just typed in the criteria and the program would give us a mark based on that! So, a few assignments later, we were wondering how come the computer said we were getting one mark, and we got another. And then it hit me...it wasn't the mark! It was how big we were viewing the window! Some times we can look at something and thing too dumbly, but then there are times we look at something and make it look smarter.

The story of Casey Careless.

Once upon a time there was two girls in a Bus. Ed. course. Little did they know they would impact each other’s lives in a large and unexpected way…It all started when my dumb computer stopped working and I was moved from sitting next to my friend to sitting next to Casey. We started talking as each assignment got harder. Eventually we came onto the subject of future goals. I told her I wanted to be an accountant and she told me she was going to be a tour guide thing. (I think, that’s what I got anyways) She also said she would travel the world. She asked me if I wanted to come with her, but I told her that I couldn’t considering at the time she would be living in mud huts in Australia, I probably would be very busy pretending to listen to a teacher talk to me about finances. Of course, she said it sounded very boring, and I told her it probably was. “You should really come with me! You will you know, when you realize how crappy that teacher is.” I thought about what she said, and I have come to the conclusion that eventually, when I’m not listening to that finance teacher talk, I will phone her up, and say “Casey, you were right, this teacher sucks, I’m coming to Australia to live in your mud hut.” So, in essence, I’ll give up on my futuristic goals, and end up living dirt poor in a mud hut, with Casey. Even as that sounds ridiculous to you, we will be very happy together.

Graceling - Kristin Cashore

This book is very well written, just enough description to give you an idea of the setting, but not too much to overwhelm you. There is interesting and very different characters, so it's not just the same personality over and over again. There's the main character Katsa, who has the ability to kill people very well. The book is about special people with "Graces" which is probably why the book is called Graceling. I really enjoyed this book, it's a great read. Although I think at some points it's too much nothingness, no story, just character building, for example, when they travel, it takes way too long to get to some places.
